Introduction

Why Softwood Needs Extra Care

Pine, spruce and other softwoods are inexpensive but porous. They draw in moisture, swell, then shrink in heat—causing splits and rot.

Why Choose Lacq Produra

Traditional solvent stains sit on top and peel. Lacq Produra’s vegetable-oil & water emulsion soaks deep, feeding fibres and forming a translucent shield that flexes with movement.

How to Stain and Protect Softwood

  1. Clean & Dry
Brush off dirt, mould or green growth. Treat algae with a fungicidal wash; let dry (< 18 % moisture).
  2. Optional Sanding
Lightly sand rough spots or mill glaze. Remove dust.
  3. Stir & First Coat
Mix Produra. Apply a thin, even coat along the grain with brush, roller or sprayer (≈ 16 m² / L).
  4. Wait ~6 Hours
    Dust-dry; then add second coat.
  5. Third Coat
Softwoods need a third thin coat—especially on horizontal faces and exposed edges—for long-term weather defence.
  6. Clean-up
Rinse tools in warm water. Produra reaches handling hardness after 24 h.
