Fed up with flaking emulsion and endless drying times? Our Anti Damp Paint lets you coat damp walls today, stop peeling paint, seal penetrating or rising damp and get rooms back in use fast.
Drawing on 120 years of UK formulating know how, we’ve tested these damp proof paints so you don’t have to. Anti Damp Paint is blended in the Uk for the UK’s unpredictable climate and has proved its worth on countless renovations from cellar conversions to coastal cottages.
Unlike ordinary paint, paint for damp walls applies a solvent based barrier while surfaces still feel wet, its flexible film grips, cures and prevents future flaking even where moisture is migrating through the wall. The breathable resin allows you to paint damp walls, letting trapped vapour escape slowly, avoiding blistering, while built in biocides help stop mould from coming back. Low odour Damp Seal technology makes it suitable for occupied homes and rental turnarounds where speed matters.
Simply scrape, degrease, brush off dust and coat, no lengthy drying out schedule or costly membrane systems. Overcoat with your chosen breathable emulsion after 12 hours, sit back and watch it work its magic.

Which are the best damp proof paints I can buy in the UK?
For tackling internal moisture, our UK-made Coo-Var and SPO Anti Damp Paints top the list. They bond to slightly damp plaster or masonry, seal efflorescence and accept standard emulsions after 12 hours, giving you professional results without expensive tanking systems
Can I apply Anti Damp Paint directly onto a damp wall?
Yes—both products can be brushed or rolled onto walls that are damp but not dripping. Simply scrape off loose material, clean any mould, let surface water flash off and coat.
Do I still need a separate mould cleaner first?
If mould or lichen is present, scrub with a proprietary mould remover, rinse and allow to dry briefly before painting. This ensures spores are killed and won’t bleed through the new coating.
How soon can I overcoat with emulsion or wallpaper?
Allow at least 12 hours (overnight) at 20 °C before applying your decorative topcoat.
What finish and colour does it dry to?
The paint dries to a smooth white matt finish that can be left as is or overpainted with coloured emulsion.
What coverage should I expect?
One litre covers around 9 m² at the recommended 40 µm dry film thickness; porous walls may need more.
