About The Product

Coo-Var P101 PU Anti-Graffiti Coating is the ultimate two-pack aliphatic polyurethane anti-graffiti coating designed to create a high-gloss, easy-clean protective film from which graffiti washes off easily with Coo-Var Graffiti Remover. Unlike single-pack anti-graffiti coatings that degrade under UV exposure and repeated cleaning, this two-pack polyurethane system chemically cures to create a durable, UV-resistant film that withstands repeated graffiti attacks and cleaning cycles without losing its protective properties.

⚠️ Professional use only: This product contains Isocyanates. Users must complete a mandatory online training course before use. This is a legal requirement — see the Technical Data Sheet for the course link and full details. Not suitable for DIY use.

Developed by Coo-Var with over 115 years of British coating expertise, P101 PU Anti-Graffiti Coating is the professional solution for protecting concrete, brick, stone, metal, bridges, statues, public toilets, and high-hygiene areas from graffiti vandalism. The aliphatic polyurethane formulation provides superior UV resistance compared to aromatic polyurethane alternatives, maintaining its high-gloss finish and anti-graffiti properties even in harsh outdoor environments.

When graffiti is applied to a P101-coated surface, the two-pack polyurethane film prevents spray paint and marker ink from bonding to the substrate. Graffiti can then be removed quickly and easily using Coo-Var Graffiti Remover without damaging the protective coating — leaving the surface fully protected and ready for the next attack. This sacrificial-free permanent protection system eliminates the need for costly repainting after each graffiti incident.

The two-pack system provides a pot life of 6–8 hours at 20°C — mix only what you can apply within this time. Coverage of 7–8 m² per litre (35–40 m² per 5 kg kit) at 65–75 µm DFT. Touch dry in 3–4 hours, hard dry in 16–24 hours, full cure in 5–7 days. Recoat minimum 16 hours, maximum 72 hours. Apply by brush, short-nap mohair roller, or airless spray — do not thin.

Suitable for concrete, brick, stone, metal, primed masonry, bridges, statues, public toilets, and high-hygiene areas. Clear finish preserves the natural appearance of the substrate. VOC max 498 g/L, flash point 40°C — use in well-ventilated area away from ignition sources.

Manufactured in the UK to rigorous standards and trusted by local authorities, facilities managers, property owners, and professional contractors for long-term protection against graffiti vandalism.

FAQ's

What is Coo-Var P101 PU Anti-Graffiti Coating and when should I use it?

Coo-Var P101 PU Anti-Graffiti Coating is the ultimate two-pack aliphatic polyurethane anti-graffiti coating for professional use. Use it when you need permanent, sacrificial-free protection on surfaces that are repeatedly targeted by graffiti vandalism — concrete, brick, stone, metal, bridges, statues, and high-hygiene areas.

Why is P101 professional use only?

P101 contains Isocyanates, which are hazardous substances requiring specialist knowledge and PPE to handle safely. All users must complete a mandatory online Isocyanates training course before use — this is a legal requirement. See the Technical Data Sheet for the course link. P101 is not suitable for DIY use.

How does P101 protect against graffiti?

P101's two-pack aliphatic polyurethane film prevents spray paint and marker ink from bonding to the substrate. When graffiti is applied to a P101-coated surface, it sits on top of the protective film rather than penetrating the substrate. Graffiti can then be removed quickly and easily using Coo-Var Graffiti Remover without damaging the protective coating.

Is P101 a sacrificial or permanent anti-graffiti coating?

P101 is a permanent anti-graffiti coating — it does not need to be reapplied after each graffiti removal. Unlike sacrificial coatings that are removed along with the graffiti, P101 remains intact after cleaning with Coo-Var Graffiti Remover, providing ongoing protection against repeated graffiti attacks.

What surfaces can I apply P101 to?

P101 is suitable for concrete, brick, stone, metal, primed masonry, bridges, statues, public toilets, and high-hygiene areas. Ensure all surfaces are clean, dry, and properly prepared before application. Prime bare metal and porous masonry with appropriate primer before applying.

How do I mix P101?

Mix only what you can apply within the 6–8 hour pot life at 20°C. Pour Part B (hardener) into Part A (base) following the correct ratio per the datasheet. Stir thoroughly for minimum 3 minutes. Do not mix more than you can apply within the pot life. Pot life will be shorter at higher temperatures.

What is the pot life of P101?

The pot life of P101 is 6–8 hours at 20°C. Mix only what you can apply within this time. Pot life will be shorter at higher temperatures. Do not use mixed product beyond the pot life.

How long does P101 take to cure?

Touch dry in 3–4 hours, hard dry in 16–24 hours at 20°C. Recoat after minimum 16 hours (maximum 72 hours). Full cure in 5–7 days. Allow full cure before exposing to graffiti risk or cleaning.

How do I remove graffiti from a P101-coated surface?

Use Coo-Var Graffiti Remover to remove graffiti from P101-coated surfaces. Apply Graffiti Remover to the affected area and remove graffiti without damaging the P101 protective coating. The surface remains fully protected after cleaning and is ready for the next attack. Do not use abrasive cleaners or tools.

What coverage can I expect from P101?

P101 provides approximately 7–8 m² per litre at 65–75 µm DFT. A 1 kg kit covers approximately 7–8 m² and a 5 kg kit covers approximately 35–40 m² per coat. Order 10% extra to account for surface texture and porosity.

Is P101 UV resistant?

Yes, P101's aliphatic polyurethane formulation provides superior UV resistance compared to aromatic alternatives. It maintains its high-gloss finish and anti-graffiti properties even in harsh outdoor environments without yellowing or degradation.

What safety precautions are required when using P101?

P101 contains Isocyanates — complete the mandatory online training course before use (legal requirement). Wear full PPE including respiratory protection, chemical-resistant gloves, and eye protection. Use in well-ventilated area — VOC max 498 g/L, flash point 40°C. Keep away from ignition sources. Consult the Safety Data Sheet for full safety guidance.
