Developed by Coo-Var — a British coatings manufacturer with over 115 years of heritage — it seals porous substrates including brickwork, masonry, sandstone and natural stone to prevent excessive absorption of GP101, ensuring the anti-graffiti topcoat sits correctly on the surface and performs as intended.

In addition to its primary role as a preparatory sealer for GP101, the Sealer Coat also provides excellent water and mildew resistance in its own right, and can be used to minimise the darkening effect that water-based products can cause on sandstone and other natural stone surfaces.

The water-based formula is non-flammable with a VOC content below 30 g/litre, making it suitable for use in enclosed and occupied spaces with minimal disruption. It cleans up with water and is touch dry in 1.5 hours at 20°C, allowing GP101 to be applied the following day.

• Porous Brickwork Before GP101 — Apply to old or porous brickwork before applying GP101 Graffiti Protection System. The sealer coat prevents excessive absorption of GP101 into the substrate, ensuring the anti-graffiti topcoat achieves the correct film thickness and performs as intended.

• Sandstone & Natural Stone — Apply to sandstone, limestone and other natural porous stone surfaces before GP101. The sealer coat minimises the darkening effect that water-based products can cause on natural stone, preserving the natural appearance of the substrate.

Coverage: 10–15 m² per litre at 22 micron dry film thickness

Coverage per 2.5L tin

• At maximum coverage (15 m²/litre): approximately 37.5 m² per coat
• At minimum coverage (10 m²/litre): approximately 25 m² per coat
• Typical coverage on porous brickwork or sandstone: approximately 25–30 m² per coat

Coverage will vary significantly depending on the porosity of the surface. Highly porous surfaces such as sandstone and old brickwork will absorb more product and reduce coverage.

Recoat intervals

• Before applying a further coat of Sealer Coat: minimum 2 hours
• Before applying GP101 Graffiti Protection System: minimum 24 hours

• For a sandstone wall of 25 m²: a 2.5L tin will cover 1 coat at typical coverage

Surface Preparation

• All surfaces must be clean, dry and free from oil, grease and loose flaking material before applying

Application

1. Mix well before use
2. Apply by brush or roller to the prepared porous surface
3. Apply evenly, ensuring full coverage of the substrate
4. If thinning is required, thin with clean water
5. Allow to dry — touch dry in 1.5 hours at 20°C
6. If a second coat of Sealer Coat is required, recoat after a minimum of 2 hours

8. Clean brushes, rollers and trays immediately after use with clean water

Drying Times (at 20°C)

• Hard dry: 6 hours

Drying times will be longer in cold or humid conditions. Do not apply below 7°C.
