What Our Customers Say

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "Used on a subway underpass — still graffiti-free after two years" We applied two coats of WB101 to a subway underpass that had been repeatedly targeted by graffiti. Two years on and any graffiti that does appear wipes off easily with a pressure washer. The low-odour formula meant we could apply it without closing the underpass. — Mark Forsythe, Local Authority Maintenance Manager, Leeds

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "Excellent for public toilet refurbishment — easy to clean finish" Specified WB101 for a public toilet refurbishment contract. The low-odour, water-based formula was essential for working in an enclosed space. The hard, off-gloss finish is very easy to clean and has held up well through daily cleaning with commercial detergents. — Sandra Ashby, Facilities Contractor, Birmingham

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "Applied over existing coloured paint — no stripping required" We used WB101 over existing painted walls in a stadium concourse. The ability to apply over compatible existing paint saved significant time and cost on surface preparation. The clear finish preserved the existing colour scheme and the anti-graffiti protection has been excellent. — Kevin Drummond, Stadium Facilities Manager, Glasgow

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "Low VOC — ideal for occupied buildings" We specified WB101 for an anti-graffiti project in an occupied office building. The 75 g/litre VOC content and low-odour formula meant we could apply during working hours without disrupting the occupants. The finish is hard and durable and the graffiti protection is excellent. — Priya Holloway, Painting Contractor, London

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "Reliable two-pack system — consistent results every time" We have been using WB101 on local authority anti-graffiti contracts for three years. It consistently delivers a hard, durable finish and the mixing process is straightforward with a drill and paddle. Delivery is always next day and the technical support from Coo-Var is excellent. — James Cartwright, Painting Contractor, Manchester

✅ This product is ideal if you need to:

• Protect bridges, subways, public toilets, stadiums or walls in high-graffiti areas with a durable anti-graffiti coating
• Apply a low-odour, water-based anti-graffiti coating in enclosed or occupied spaces
• Use a two-pack polyurethane system for maximum hardness and durability
• Apply over compatible existing coloured paint without stripping back to bare substrate
• Achieve a clear, off-gloss finish that allows the underlying surface colour to show through
• Specify a low-VOC anti-graffiti coating for sustainability or indoor air quality requirements

❌ This product is NOT suitable if you need to:

• The surface has not been properly prepared — surfaces must be laitance-free, clean, dry and free from contaminants; existing painted surfaces must be cleaned, degreased and sanded
• The temperature is below 5°C or above 30°C during application or curing — do not apply outside this range
• Humidity exceeds 85% RH or condensing conditions are present — do not apply in these conditions
• You cannot use the mixed material within 2–3 hours — the entire pack must be mixed and used within the pot life; do not part-mix
• The recoat window of 72 hours has been exceeded — do not apply a second coat after 72 hours
• You require a coloured anti-graffiti coating — WB101 is clear only

Coo-Var WB101 is a specialist water-based, two-pack polyurethane anti-graffiti coating formulated for interior and exterior use on bridges, walls, subways, public toilets, stadiums and other surfaces in high-graffiti environments. Developed by Coo-Var — a British coatings manufacturer with over 115 years of heritage — it cures to a hard, off-gloss, easy-to-clean clear finish that resists graffiti inks and sprays, allowing surfaces to be cleaned quickly and cost-effectively.

The two-pack polyurethane formulation delivers a tough, durable film that is significantly harder and more resistant than single-component alternatives. The water-based chemistry keeps VOC content to just 75 g/litre, making it suitable for use in enclosed and occupied spaces where low odour is essential. It can be applied over compatible coloured paints, allowing existing surfaces to be protected without stripping back to bare substrate.

The entire contents of the hardener must be added to the resin base and mixed thoroughly with a low-speed drill and mixing paddle for two minutes before use. Once mixed, the material must be used within the pot life of 2–3 hours at 20°C. Disposable application equipment is recommended.

Coverage: 5–8 m² per kg at 100–105 micron dry film thickness

Coverage per 5kg pack

• At maximum coverage (8 m²/kg): approximately 40 m² per 5kg pack per coat
• At minimum coverage (5 m²/kg): approximately 25 m² per 5kg pack per coat
• Typical coverage on prepared masonry: approximately 30–35 m² per 5kg pack per coat

Coverage will vary depending on surface porosity, texture and condition. Porous or rough surfaces will absorb more product and reduce coverage.

Recommended coats

• Minimum 2 coats are required — apply at least 2 coats of WB101 for adequate anti-graffiti protection
• Recoat after a minimum of 16 hours — do not exceed the maximum recoat window of 72 hours
• Do not exceed the maximum wet film thickness — over-applying can cause imperfections in the finished film

Important — Pot Life: Once the base and hardener are mixed, the material must be used within 2–3 hours at 20°C. The entire contents of both components must be mixed together — do not part-mix. Mix only what can be applied within the pot life.

Example calculations (2 coats)

• For a subway wall of 50 m²: approximately 2–3 x 5kg packs per coat — 4–6 packs for 2 coats
• For a public toilet of 20 m²: approximately 1 x 5kg pack per coat — 2 packs for 2 coats
• For a stadium concourse wall of 100 m²: approximately 3–4 x 5kg packs per coat — 6–8 packs for 2 coats

For accurate project planning, we recommend ordering 10–15% extra to account for surface variation and porosity.

Wear appropriate PPE including gloves and eye protection during mixing and application.

Application Conditions: Air temperature 5–30°C. Humidity maximum 85% RH, non-condensing conditions. Do not apply below 5°C.

Surface Preparation

• All surfaces must be laitance-free, clean, dry and free from contaminants before applying
• Existing painted surfaces must be cleaned, degreased and sanded to ensure an adequate key
• Remove all loose and flaking material and treat bare areas as new substrate
• If in doubt about compatibility with an existing paint surface, test a small area first before full application

Mixing

1. Add the entire contents of the hardener tin to the resin base container
2. Mix thoroughly with a low-speed drill and mixing paddle for two minutes
3. Ensure the mixing action takes in the full depth and perimeter of the container
4. Use within 2–3 hours of mixing — do not exceed the pot life
5. Do not thin — apply direct

Application

1. Apply direct to the prepared surface — can be used over most compatible paint surfaces
2. Apply by brush or short pile roller — disposable application equipment is recommended
3. Apply at least 2 coats for adequate anti-graffiti protection
4. Do not exceed the maximum wet film thickness — over-applying can cause imperfections in the finished film
5. Allow initial cure of 1–2 hours before light use
6. Apply a second coat after a minimum of 16 hours — do not exceed the maximum recoat window of 72 hours

Drying Times (at 20°C)

• Initial cure: 1–2 hours
• Hard dry: 24 hours
• Full cure: 5–7 days
• Recoat interval: Minimum 16 hours — maximum 72 hours

Drying times will be longer in cold or humid conditions.

Important Notes

• Do not thin — adding water or any thinner will affect performance
• Disposable application equipment is recommended — cleaning two-pack polyurethane from brushes and rollers is difficult once cured
• Do not exceed maximum wet film thickness — imperfections may occur if over-applied
• The entire pack must be mixed — do not attempt to part-mix base and hardener
