About The Product

Coo-Var Progrip is a water-based 2-pack anti-slip epoxy floor paint with pre-mixed aggregate designed to create safe anti-slip floors in heavy traffic areas. Unlike standard floor paints that become slippery when wet, this pre-aggregated 2-pack epoxy formulation provides PTV-rated micro aggregate grip whilst resisting forklifts, heavy vehicles, and extreme traffic conditions.

Developed by Coo-Var with over 115 years of British coating expertise, Progrip is the professional solution for warehouses, factories, loading bays, walkways, and heavy traffic areas requiring anti-slip protection. The water-based 2-pack epoxy chemistry creates a durable anti-slip coating that reduces slip risks whilst providing industrial-grade protection against mechanical wear, impact, and abrasion.

When floors in warehouses, loading bays, and heavy traffic areas become slippery, slip risks increase, creating safety hazards and potential liability. Coo-Var Progrip's pre-mixed PTV-rated micro aggregate provides textured grip to reduce slip risks, whilst the water-based 2-pack epoxy formulation provides industrial-grade durability that resists forklifts and heavy vehicles.

The water-based solvent-free formulation is low odour (< 10 g/L VOC) and safe for occupied spaces, whilst the 2-pack epoxy chemistry provides professional-grade anti-slip protection. The off-gloss anti-slip finish provides durable grip whilst remaining easy to clean with regular sweeping or mopping. Available in 7 colours for zone marking and safety identification.

Suitable for concrete, masonry, wood, asphalt, tarmac, and stable existing paint in warehouses, factories, workshops, loading bays, walkways, and heavy traffic areas. Prime porous surfaces with Coo-Var ProSeal High Performance Primer (clean, dry surfaces) or Coo-Var Dampshield Primer (damp or oily surfaces) for optimal adhesion. The pre-aggregated formulation eliminates need for separate aggregate application.

FAQ's

What is Coo-Var Progrip and when should I use it?

Coo-Var Progrip is a water-based 2-pack anti-slip epoxy floor paint with pre-mixed aggregate designed to create safe anti-slip floors in heavy traffic areas. Use it in warehouses, factories, loading bays, walkways, and forklift zones where slip resistance and heavy duty protection are critical.

What makes Progrip different from standard anti-slip floor paints?

Progrip is a 2-pack epoxy with pre-mixed PTV-rated micro aggregate, providing industrial-grade durability and slip resistance. Unlike standard anti-slip paints, the 2-pack epoxy formulation resists forklifts and heavy vehicles whilst the pre-mixed aggregate ensures consistent anti-slip performance without separate aggregate application.

Do I need to add aggregate to Progrip?

No, Progrip has PTV-rated micro aggregate pre-mixed in the formulation. This eliminates the need for separate aggregate application and ensures consistent anti-slip performance across the entire floor. Simply mix Part A and Part B and apply.

Do I need to prime before applying Progrip?

Yes, for optimal adhesion, prime porous surfaces with Coo-Var ProSeal High Performance Primer (for clean, dry surfaces) or Coo-Var Dampshield Primer (for damp or oily surfaces). Proper priming ensures maximum adhesion and prevents delamination.

Can I use Progrip on damp or oily surfaces?

Progrip itself is not suitable for direct application to damp or oily surfaces. First, prime with Coo-Var Dampshield Primer (moisture blocking epoxy primer for damp or oily surfaces), allow to cure, then apply Progrip for anti-slip protection.

How many coats of Progrip do I need?

For most applications, 1 coat provides excellent anti-slip protection. For heavy traffic areas (forklifts, heavy vehicles), apply 2 coats for maximum anti-slip protection and durability. Allow minimum 16 hours between coats.

How long does Progrip take to cure?

Touch dry in 4 hours, hard dry in 8–12 hours at 20°C. Light foot traffic after 24 hours. Full cure for heavy traffic in 5–7 days. Curing times may be extended in cooler temperatures or high humidity.

What is the recoat window for Progrip?

Recoat after minimum 16 hours, maximum 72 hours for optimal inter-coat adhesion. This recoat window ensures first coat is cured enough for second coat whilst maintaining chemical bond for maximum adhesion.

Can I use Progrip outdoors?

Yes, Progrip is suitable for interior and exterior floors. The water-based 2-pack epoxy formulation is weather-resistant and can withstand UK outdoor conditions. Ensure surface is dry before application and avoid application if rain is expected within 12 hours.

What colours are available for Progrip?

Progrip is available in 7 colours: Tile Red, Yellow, Forest Green, Flint Grey, Light Grey, Black, and White. Use different colours for zone marking, walkway identification, and safety areas to improve workplace organization.

How much coverage can I expect from Progrip?

Progrip provides approximately 6–10 m² per kg (30–50 m² per 5kg unit) at 35–70 µm DFT. Coverage may vary depending on surface porosity and aggregate density. We recommend ordering 10–15% extra for surface variation and mixing wastage.

Is Progrip suitable for forklift traffic?

Yes, Progrip is specifically designed for heavy traffic areas including forklifts, pallet trucks, and heavy vehicles. The 2-pack epoxy formulation provides industrial-grade durability whilst the pre-mixed aggregate provides anti-slip grip for forklift operators.

What products do I need to complete my anti-slip floor system?

We recommend using Coo-Var Oil Remover for eliminating oils, Coo-Var Universal Degreaser for cutting through grease, Coo-Var Acid Etch for preparing concrete, Coo-Var ProSeal High Performance Primer (clean, dry surfaces) or Coo-Var Dampshield Primer (damp or oily surfaces), Progrip as topcoat, and disposable Application Tools. This complete system ensures maximum adhesion and anti-slip performance.
