What Our Customers Say

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "Used Lacq Decowax Clear on our solid oak dining table. Applied with a lint-free cloth, wiped excess after 20 minutes, buffed the next morning. The grain has come alive — a rich, warm glow that spray polishes never achieved. The table feels smooth and hard. Outstanding natural wax." — Harriet L., Homeowner, Surrey

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "Applied Decowax to our hardwood floors — the smell of natural turpentine and beeswax is wonderful. Buffed the next day and the floors look brand new. Effortless to use and the sheen is exactly right — soft and natural, not plastic. Best furniture wax available." — Nick R., Homeowner, Yorkshire

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "Used Decowax Chalky White on chalk-painted bedroom furniture. Applied over the chalk paint — the wax sealed and protected the paint perfectly. The soft sheen is beautiful — exactly the finish I wanted. The colour is subtle and enhances the chalk paint rather than changing it. Excellent product." — Patricia H., Interior Designer, Kent

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "Applied Decowax Gold Metallic to a chalk-painted console table. The metallic finish is stunning — rich and warm, not garish. Applied with a brush, wiped excess, buffed next day. The finish has held up perfectly for 8 months with no touch-up required. Best metallic wax finish available." — Colin W., Furniture Restorer, Bristol

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ "Used Decowax Antique Brown on a restored pine dresser. The colour deepened the grain beautifully — exactly the antique look I wanted. Applied with a brush into all the carved details, wiped excess, buffed next day. The finish is hard and smooth. Will use Decowax on all future restoration projects." — Rachel T., Antique Restorer, Devon

• Feed, seal, and protect bare wood or chalk-painted furniture and floors with a natural beeswax and carnauba wax

• Apply a traditional natural wax finish with no artificial additives or synthetic resins

• Choose from 12 colours including metallics to protect, tint, or decoratively finish furniture and floors

• Apply a breathable, moisture-regulating wax that allows wood to breathe naturally while repelling moisture and stains

❌ This product is NOT suitable if you need to:

• Apply to exterior timber — Decowax is formulated for interior use only

• Apply in temperatures below 5°C (minimum application temperature 5°C)

Lacq Decowax Furniture Wax is a traditional natural wood wax formulated from a premium blend of beeswax, carnauba, and pure turpentine — feeding, sealing, and protecting bare wood and chalk-painted furniture and floors with a rich, hand-rubbed sheen that nourishes wood fibres and provides up to 5 years of protection before a touch-up is required.

Developed by Lacq's Dutch wood care experts with over 60 years of wax craft innovation, Decowax uses only natural ingredients — no artificial additives, no synthetic resins. The beeswax and carnauba blend penetrates deep into wood fibres, nourishing and sealing from within, while the pure turpentine carrier ensures deep penetration and a smooth, even application. The result is a breathable, moisture-regulating wax finish that allows wood to breathe naturally while repelling moisture, stains, and everyday scuffs.

Available in 12 colours — 9 standard shades (Clear, Antique Brown, Antique Green, Antique Pink, Chalky White, Chalky Grey, Taupe, Anthracite, Nordic Blue) and 3 metallic finishes (Gold Metallic, Copper Metallic, Bronze Metallic) — Decowax can be used to protect and enhance the natural wood colour, add a subtle tint to chalk-painted furniture, or create a stunning metallic decorative finish.

Apply with a brush, sponge, or lint-free cloth. Spread evenly and wipe off excess after 15–30 minutes — only a thin, even layer should remain. Allow to harden overnight, then buff firmly to achieve a smooth, strong, hard wax layer with a soft natural sheen. Coverage of approximately 6 m² per litre (approximately 2.25 m² per 375ml tin). Minimum application temperature 5°C.

Contains natural turpentine — flash point above 32°C. Use in well-ventilated area.

Coverage: Approx. 6 m² per litre (approx. 2.25 m² per 375ml tin)

Coverage varies depending on wood porosity and the thickness of application. Bare, porous, or previously untreated wood will absorb more wax than previously waxed surfaces.

Per Tin Coverage:

• 375ml tin: Covers approx. 2–2.5 m² per coat

Example Calculations:

Small Project (single chair or side table — approx. 0.5 m²):
• Product required: One 375ml tin (covers multiple pieces)

Medium Project (dining table & chairs — approx. 2 m²):
• Product required: One 375ml tin

Large Project (bedroom furniture set — approx. 5 m²):
• Product required: Two to three 375ml tins

Floor Project (small room — approx. 10 m²):
• Product required: Four to five 375ml tins

For accurate project planning, measure your total surface area. Order 10% extra for porous or previously untreated surfaces.

Important: Apply in thin, even coats. Wipe off excess after 15–30 minutes — do not leave thick coats on the surface. Allow to harden overnight before buffing. Re-coat after minimum 12 hours.

Recommended System Products:
• Paint Brushes, Sponges & Lint-Free Cloths – For applying Decowax to all timber surfaces

Important Notes:

Contains natural turpentine — flash point above 32°C. Use in well-ventilated area away from open flames and ignition sources. Wear appropriate PPE including gloves during application. Test on a small inconspicuous area first to confirm colour and finish.

Surface Preparation:

• Ensure wood is clean, dry, and free from dust, grease, and old finishes
• Remove any loose or flaking existing wax, varnish, or paint
• Lightly sand if required to open the grain and improve wax penetration
• For greyed or weathered timber, revive with Lacq Turbogel before waxing for best results
• Chalk-painted surfaces should be fully dry before applying Decowax

Application:

Step 1 — Apply:
• Apply Decowax generously using a brush, sponge, or lint-free cloth
• A brush is particularly useful for carved wood, relief surfaces, and detailed areas
• Spread the wax evenly across the surface, working with the grain
• Ensure complete, even coverage of all surfaces

Step 2 — Wipe Excess:
• After 15–30 minutes, wipe off the excess wax with a clean lint-free cloth
• Only a thin, even layer should remain on the surface
• This allows the wax to soak into the substrate without leaving a thick surface film
• Do not leave excess wax on the surface — it will not harden correctly

Step 3 — Harden & Buff:
• Allow the remaining wax to soak in and harden overnight (minimum 12 hours)
• Once hardened, buff firmly with a clean lint-free cloth or soft brush
• Buffing makes the wax layer smooth, strong, and hard, and develops the soft natural sheen
• The more firmly you buff, the higher the sheen

Drying Times (at 20°C):

• Dust dry: 12 hours
• Buff and re-coat: After minimum 12 hours (overnight)

Drying times may be extended in cooler temperatures or high humidity.

What is Lacq Decowax and when should I use it?

Lacq Decowax is a traditional natural wood wax made from beeswax, carnauba, and pure turpentine. Use it to feed, seal, and protect bare wood and chalk-painted furniture and floors with a rich, hand-rubbed natural sheen. Ideal for furniture restoration, chalk paint finishing, and interior wood floor maintenance.

What surfaces can I use Decowax on?

Decowax is suitable for untreated bare wood, chalk-painted surfaces, interior furniture, wooden floors, and decorative timber. Not suitable for exterior timber or non-porous surfaces such as varnish, lacquer, or oil — wax requires a porous surface to penetrate and bond.

Can I use Decowax over chalk paint?

Yes — Decowax is ideal for sealing and protecting chalk-painted furniture. Apply over fully dry chalk paint to seal, protect, and add a soft natural sheen. The coloured variants can add a subtle tint to the chalk paint finish.

Can I use Decowax on wooden floors?

Yes — Decowax is suitable for interior wooden floors as well as furniture. Apply in thin, even coats and buff firmly for a hard, durable wax finish. Re-coat annually or as required depending on traffic levels.

How do I apply Decowax?

Apply with a brush, sponge, or lint-free cloth. Spread evenly across the surface and wipe off excess after 15–30 minutes — only a thin, even layer should remain. Allow to harden overnight, then buff firmly with a clean cloth to develop the soft natural sheen.

Why do I need to wipe off the excess wax?

Leaving excess wax on the surface will prevent it from hardening correctly and result in a sticky, uneven finish. Only a thin, even layer should remain after wiping — this is what soaks into the wood and hardens to form the protective wax layer.

How long does Decowax take to dry?

Dust dry in 12 hours. Buff and re-coat after minimum 12 hours (overnight). Drying times may be extended in cooler temperatures or high humidity.

How long does Decowax protection last?

Up to 5 years before a full re-wax is required under normal use. Future marks and scuffs buff out in seconds with a clean cloth — minimal maintenance required between re-waxing.

What coverage does a 375ml tin provide?

A 375ml tin covers approximately 2–2.5 m² per coat depending on wood porosity. Bare, porous, or previously untreated wood will absorb more wax than previously waxed surfaces.

Will Decowax change the colour of my wood?

Clear Decowax enhances the natural grain and colour without significantly changing the tone — adding a warm, natural glow. The coloured variants add a subtle tint to the wood or chalk paint. The metallic variants (Gold, Copper, Bronze) create a decorative metallic finish.

Does Decowax contain artificial additives?

No — Decowax is made from natural beeswax, carnauba, and pure turpentine only. No artificial additives or synthetic resins. A traditional natural wax formula with over 60 years of Dutch innovation.

Is Decowax suitable for exterior use?

No — Decowax is formulated for interior use only. For exterior timber protection, use Lacq Produra Wood Stain & Protector or Coo-Var Suredeck Anti-Slip Decking Protector.
