About The Product

SPO Two-Pack Epoxy Floor Paint transforms concrete, wood, or even old asphalt into a forklift-proof surface that keeps performing long after cheaper single-pack coatings fail. This water-based two-pack epoxy system (< 10 g/L VOC) delivers professional-grade protection with low odour, making it safe for occupied warehouses and workshops.

Unlike standard single-pack floor paints that crack under heavy loads, this high-solids epoxy formula (55-85% volume solids) cures to a rock-hard barrier that withstands forklifts, trucks, vans, pallets, and daily industrial wear. Fewer repaints, lightning-fast clean-ups, and showroom looks drive lower costs, higher productivity, and happier customers.

Backed by over 100 years of British coating innovation and manufactured in the UK to exacting standards, it's arguably the best water-based epoxy floor paint money can buy.

Key Benefits

• Ultimate Floor Protection – High-build epoxy barrier (35-70 µm DFT) shrugs off tyres and pallets, extending floor life and slashing maintenance budgets. Forklift-proof performance.

• Maximum Durability – Two-pack epoxy cures to a rock-hard off-gloss finish that outperforms single-pack paints by years. Cuts costly shutdowns for recoating and keeps revenue flowing.

• Easy-Clean Finish – Smooth, non-porous epoxy surface wipes free of grease and dust in minutes, reducing cleaning labour and boosting productivity.

• Fast Back to Work – Pot life up to 4 hours yet hard dry in 8-12 hours, so you can coat after shift end and be up and running the next day. Minimal downtime.

• Low Odour, Water-Based – Unlike solvent-based epoxies, this water-based system (< 10 g/L VOC) has minimal odour and is non-flammable. Safe for occupied warehouses and workshops.

• All-Surface Versatility – Bonds to concrete, masonry, wood, asphalt, tarmac, and existing paint, letting you revitalise the entire site with one system. Indoor and outdoor use.

Anti-Slip Option – Add anti-slip aggregate between coats for enhanced grip in wet or oily environments. Perfect for loading bays and vehicle traffic areas.

Coverage & How Much Do I Need

Coverage: Approximately 6–10 m² per kg (30–50 m² per 5 kg mixed unit per coat)

Coverage per size

• 5 kg mixed unit: Covers approx. 30–50 m² per coat

Recommended coats

• 2 coats recommended for heavy-duty performance and long-term durability
• For maximum protection, always apply 2 coats

Example calculations

• For a 10 m² garage floor, you will need approximately 1–1.7 kg per coat
• For 2 coats, you will need approximately 2–3.4 kg total (one 5 kg unit covers this easily)

• For a 40 m² warehouse section, you will need approximately 4–6.7 kg per coat
• For 2 coats, you will need approximately 8–13.4 kg total (two 5 kg units)

• For a 100 m² factory floor, you will need approximately 10–16.7 kg per coat
• For 2 coats, you will need approximately 20–33.4 kg total (four to seven 5 kg units)

Practical coverage may be lower depending on surface porosity, texture, and application method. Porous concrete or rough asphalt may require more paint. For accurate project planning, we recommend ordering 10-15% extra to account for surface variation.

How To Apply

• Then pour the Base component into the Hardener container
• Mix again thoroughly using a slow-speed electric mixer or drill attachment for 2-3 minutes
• Add up to 500 ml of clean water per 5 kg unit and mix again thoroughly
• Once mixed, pot life is approximately 2-4 hours at 20°C
• Do not mix more than you can apply within the pot life
• Work in a well-ventilated area

Application

• Apply using a good-quality brush or short-pile roller (6-10mm nap)
• Apply first coat evenly, working paint well into the surface
• Aim for a wet film thickness of approximately 100 µm (this will dry to 35-70 µm)
• Allow to dry for minimum 16 hours (overnight) before applying second coat
• Maximum recoat window: 72 hours (if exceeded, lightly sand surface before recoating)
• Apply second coat in the same manner for optimal protection and durability
• For anti-slip finish, scatter anti-slip aggregate between first and second coat
• Avoid application in damp, humid, or freezing conditions

Drying & Curing Times (at 20°C)

• Touch dry: 4 hours
• Hard dry: 8-12 hours
• Recoat time: Minimum 16 hours / overnight recommended
• Light foot traffic: 24 hours
• Vehicle traffic: 3-5 days
• Full cure: 5-7 days (avoid heavy forklift traffic or chemical exposure during this period)

Drying times may be extended in cooler temperatures or high humidity. Ensure adequate ventilation during application and curing.

Important Notes

• Two-pack epoxy system requires mixing base + hardener before use
• Pot life is 2-4 hours—do not mix more than you can apply in this time
• Always apply 2 coats for heavy-duty, forklift-proof performance
• For extreme chemical resistance, use Coo-Var Profloor Plus instead

FAQ's

1. What is SPO Two-Pack Epoxy Floor Paint used for?

SPO Two-Pack Epoxy Floor Paint is a water-based, solvent-free epoxy designed for high-traffic industrial and commercial floors subjected to forklifts, vehicles, trucks, vans, or heavy foot traffic. It provides long-lasting abrasion resistance, making it ideal for warehouses, factories, garages, loading bays, and industrial floors.

2. What makes this different from single-pack floor paints?

Two-pack epoxy systems cure through a chemical reaction between base and hardener, creating a much harder, more durable finish than single-pack paints. This delivers forklift-proof protection, superior chemical resistance, and significantly longer lifespan. Single-pack paints dry through evaporation and cannot match the performance of two-pack epoxies.

3. Is this a water-based or solvent-based epoxy?

This is a water-based two-pack epoxy with very low VOC content (< 10 g/L) and minimal odour. Unlike solvent-based epoxies that have strong fumes and require extensive ventilation, this water-based system is safe for occupied warehouses and workshops. It's also non-flammable.

4. Can I use this paint outdoors?

Yes. While primarily designed for interior industrial or commercial floors, you can also apply it outdoors on stable concrete, asphalt, tarmac, or other suitable substrates. Ensure the surface is clean, dry, prepared properly and in good condition before painting. It withstands British weather conditions.

5. How long does it take to dry and cure?

Touch dry in 4 hours, hard dry in 8-12 hours at 20°C. You can apply a second coat after minimum 16 hours (overnight). Light foot traffic is safe after 24 hours, but allow 5-7 days for full cure before subjecting the floor to heavy forklift traffic or chemical exposure. Drying times may be longer in cooler temperatures or high humidity.

6. Is a primer necessary before applying this epoxy floor paint?

Yes, we recommend applying SPO Two-Pack Floor Primer & Sealer to seal porous surfaces like concrete, masonry, or tarmac. This improves adhesion and prevents excessive absorption. Shiny surfaces like glazed tiles should also be primed with Coo-Var ProSeal High Performance Primer. Proper priming ensures maximum durability and performance.

7. How do I mix the two-pack system?

Mix each tin individually first for 2 minutes each using using a slow-speed electric mixer. Then pour the Base component into the Hardener container and mix thoroughly using a slow-speed electric mixer for 2-3 minutes. Add up to 500ml of clean water per 5kg unit and mix again. Once mixed, pot life is 2-4 hours at 20°C. Do not mix more than you can apply within the pot life.

8. Can I customize the colour?

Yes. SPO Two-Pack Epoxy Floor Paint is available in 6 standard colours (Tile Red, Yellow, Light Grey, Green, Black, White) and can be tinted to over 2,000 RAL, BS, and NCS shades. A minimum order quantity may apply for custom tints. Contact our team via live chat for custom colour orders.

9. How should I apply it for best results?

Use a brush or short-pile roller (6-10mm nap). Mix the two components thoroughly according to instructions, adding up to 500ml of water per 5kg unit. Apply thin, even coats. Proper surface prep—cleaning, degreasing, etching, priming, and repairing cracks—is crucial for a smooth, durable finish. Always apply 2 coats for heavy-duty performance.

10. What coverage can I expect?

Coverage is approximately 6-10 m² per kg (30-50 m² per 5kg unit per coat), depending on surface porosity and texture. A 5kg unit covers 30-50 m² per coat. For a typical 40 m² warehouse section with 2 coats, you'll need approximately two 5kg units. Porous concrete may require more paint.

11. Can I add anti-slip aggregate?

Yes. For enhanced grip in wet or oily environments, scatter anti-slip aggregate between the first and second coat. This is perfect for loading bays, vehicle traffic areas, and wet environments. Contact us for anti-slip aggregate recommendations.
